GOAL:

To provide Adult Basic Education (ABE) as well as to prepare students for the GED Exam.

To provide counseling services to improve confidence, self image, and self esteem in order to prepare individuals for the world of work and the demands of daily living.

PARTICIPANTS:

Participants must meet the following criteria:

• Be on public assistance and be referred by their caseworker.
• Economically disadvantage individual 18 years of age or older.
• Do not have a high school diploma or a GED.

SERVICES:

• Educational training to raise the customer’s level necessary to pass the GED exam.
• Opportunity to become self sufficient.
• Provide educational counseling, leading to more profitable and productive employment.
• Personal counseling to identify barriers hindering self sufficiency.
• Referrals to local self help agencies.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

• G.E.D. passing rate of 81%, compared to the national average passing rate of 67%
• Over 75% of the customers enrolled continued on to further career training
